Katherine Calkins is the on-site trainer/instructor for J-Six Ranch Equestrian Center.  She trained under national and international trainers in Western, Hunter, Trail, and Dressage.  Her riding passions are competitive trail and dressage- both disciplines requiring horse and rider to be in balance, soft, and focused.

Her training techniques focus on real results and relaxation achieved over time through safe, consistent work on horse and rider.  She does not believe in tricks and knows that true horsemanship comes with time and working with many horses and many riders.  Katherine firmly believes that she, herself is still growing everyday as a equestrian.

Katherine is available during the week and weekends for lessons between 7am and 6:30pm by appointment.  Riders may use lesson horses, or their own horse.  Group and private lessons available.  Students must be 7 years old or older to ride. Helmets are required (and provided) for all riders under 18 or working over fences, and strongly recommended for all riders.

Katherine specializes in working with timid riders.  She works with all breeds.

Pricing for Katherine Calkins:

$20 Introductory Lesson (Approx. an hour)
            Covers necessary paperwork, tour of facility, proper catching, leading, grooming, and tacking-up followed by a brief riding lesson
$40 Private Lesson (30-45minutes)
            Student will catch, grooming, and tack-up. Lessons will progress at the students pace. Lesson topics will include English/Western Horsemanship, groundwork, equine psychology, and longe lessons.
            *Lesson price only $35 if student mounted on their own horse
$25 Group Lesson (45minutes)
            Topics will cover those exercises as seen in a private lesson, but students will also learn proper arena etiquette and how to ride around other riders/horses.
$550 One Month of Training (four rides a week)
            Includes $150/month board at the  J-Six Equestrian Center. Starting under saddle, groundwork, Hunter/Western Pleasure, Dressage, Trail, Hunter over Fences, Tune-Ups. Guaranteed four rides a week.

$25 One Ride of Training
            If an owner is interested in having Katherine ride their horse a few times, and not in a full month of training, Katherine is available to ride during the week if the horse can be brought to the property.

Additional/Outside Instructors Working out of J-Six

If you are an instructor interested in giving lessons out of our facility there is a $10 per day per student fee for facility use, or an instructors monthly discount of $100/month unlimited students/horses/lessons. Instructor's yearly pass for facility use is $1,000. Instructors MUST supply their own insurance.

Danny Goodman is a student of Katherine Calkins. He has shown remarkable talent for retraining pushy, rude horses. He is effective without being harsh and has brought about remarkable changes in several clients horses.  Available for Colt Starting, Ground-Work, Horsemanship Basics, Re-tuning the older horse, Trail Riding, Vices.
RIDES: $15 for a single ride, package of 3 for $35.
EXERCISE RIDING: 2 rides per week is $100 for the month, 4 rides for $200 for the month
TRAINING: $350 for the month (includes board at the J-Six Equestrian Center)
